FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is residential assisted living?

It is 24-hour personal care and supervision provided in a small private home rather than a large facility, so fewer residents share the attention of the staff on duty.

How is a residential setting different from a larger facility?

There are no long corridors or unfamiliar wings. Meals are shared at one table, daily routines stay familiar, and the people working here know each resident personally.

Is support available 24 hours a day?

Yes. Awake staff are on site day and night, with Registered Nurse oversight of each care plan.

How is medication managed?

We assist with medications on a schedule utilizing Quickmar, an eMAR, under RN oversight, and we coordinate with prescribers and pharmacies when prescriptions change.

How does the dementia-care assessment work?

Before move-in we complete an individual assessment and evaluate whether the person's needs can be safely supported here. Dementia care is based on an individual assessment. Casita evaluates whether a person's needs can be safely supported, and care capabilities depend on staffing, licensing, the approved care plan, and current conditions. Not every diagnosis, behavior, stage, or level of memory support can automatically be accommodated.

Can residents receive hospice support?

Casita works with hospice providers so residents may receive hospice support while living at Casita when appropriate. Residents do not need to be enrolled in hospice to live at Casita.

Does a resident have to be on hospice to live at Casita?

No. Hospice enrollment is never a requirement for living at Casita. Most residents are not on hospice.

Are private and semi-private rooms available?

Casita Georgia offers private and semi-private rooms, and Casita Academy offers private rooms. Room types vary by location and availability changes. Placement depends on an individual assessment and current openings.

How do we schedule a tour?

Call (505) 525-2568 or send us a message from the contact page, and we'll arrange a time to walk you through the home.

Can families choose either location?

Yes. Families are welcome to tour Casita Georgia in Rio Rancho and Casita Academy in Albuquerque. Which home is the better fit depends on the assessment and current openings.

How do we contact a resident or a specific home?

Call the home directly — Casita Georgia at (505) 308-3058 or Casita Academy at (505) 433-3056. The main line is (505) 525-2568 and email is info@casitanm.com.

What happens if a resident's care needs change?

We reassess and update the care plan with the family. If needs move beyond what Casita can safely support under our staffing and licensing, we help coordinate the next step.

What activities are available?

Daily life at Casita may include music, games, gardening, walking, range-of-motion exercises, cognitive activities, conversation, and simple moments of connection. Activities are adapted to residents' interests, abilities, care plans, and daily needs.

How do I learn about employment opportunities?
